Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles Foundation
The Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles Foundation awards scholarships and supports educational and extracurricular projects. The Foundation does not replace funding from the Ministère de l’Éducation, but it does organize campaigns and fundraising activities to support students on the three campuses of the Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles and the ÉPAQ.
Scholarships
Welcome Scholarships
$500
35 scholarships for students who completed their high school studies in schools or adult education centers on the territory between Cap-Chat and Matapédia, including the Îles-de-la-Madeleine. The program also applies to English speaking students in the Eastern Shores School Board.
Form to fill out for new students admitted to the Cégep.
Immersion scholarships (French and English)
$500
2 scholarships (1 in French immersion and 1 in English immersion) awarded by random draw among eligible graduates.
Automatic registration.
Perseverance scholarships
$100
30 scholarships for students who overcome challenges to achieve success. Challenges can be related to:
- health (physical and/or mental);
- psychosocial issues (addiction, grief, relationship breakup, inclusion and integration);
- estrangement (isolation, cultural shock);
- financial situation;
- work/study/family/sport balance.
Form to be completed during the Perseverance School Week. The link is sent by MIO every year.
Scholarships for parents studying
$200
4 scholarships for students who are parents and who are registered for their first session at Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles. To register, apply for recognition at your program or campus’s API, before the date announced on the various communication platforms (approximately 2 weeks after the deregistration deadline and provide the required documents.
Random draw
Serge Rondeau Scholarships (Improved Academic Performance)
$500
6 scholarships awarded to the individuals who have the best progression in results (the college R score compared to the high school SRACQ score), all programs combined.
Automatic registration. The calculation is made annually by the Registrar’s Office.
Cornelius Brotherton Bursaries (surpassing oneself)
$500
2 scholarships offered per campus to highlight the commitment, dynamism, involvement and dedication of students who have chosen to study at the Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles.
In addition to these scholarships, the Foundation awards several thousand dollars in scholarships of all kinds at graduation galas (excellence, involvement, perseverance, code of ethics, random, etc.). They are offered by the generosity of businesses and organizations in the region.
Project support
An amount of $35,000 is allowed for the realization of projects. Eligible project categories are:
- Innovation in study programs;
- Internships, national and international cooperation;
- Energizing student life;
- Promotion and enhancement of studies.
Applications for financial support for a project must be completed by a staff member. The form is available on the Foundation’s website: https://fondationcegepgim.ca/bourses-et-fonds-distribues/.
Emergency support
This assistance program is intended for students who are experiencing temporary and exceptional financial problems. For all the information, consult the One-time financial and material support page.
Scholarships from the Gérard-D. Levesque Foundation
The Gérard-D.-Levesque Foundation awards scholarships to encourage excellence, perseverance, and involvement. These scholarships are intended for young people from the Gaspésie and the Îles-de-la-Madeleine under the age of 35 who are pursuing professional, collegial, technical, or university training in the region, or elsewhere. The scholarship application form is available each year from April 30th to June 30th.
''Parcours" Scholarship
If you are eligible for the “Parcours” scholarships, an amount of $3,750 per session will be awarded to you in two payments:
- For the fall semester, a first payment of $1,250 will be made in September and a second payment of $2,500 in October.
- For the winter session, a first payment of $1,250 will be made in February and a second payment of $2,500 in March.
These payments will be repeated every year for the two or three years of your studies, depending on the length of the program.
Taxes
Please note that the amount received is tax deductible. You must retrieve the document which will be filed in your Omnivox file before February 28th and attach it to your tax return.
Program Change
If you change programs during your studies, this change may impact your eligibility for a Parcours scholarship. It is important to make this change in the 1st or 2nd round of admission to keep or obtain your “Parcours” Scholarship, according to the criteria in place.

Quebec Perspective Scholarships
These scholarships are worth $1,500 per session, for six sessions, which represents an amount of $9,000 for the entire duration of the studies. The following programs are eligible:
- Nursing
- Special Needs Education Techniques
- IT technology
- Forest Technology
- Electrical Engineering Technology
To obtain a Quebec Perspective scholarship, you must apply after each session, as your application will not be renewed automatically. To be eligible, you must successfully complete your full-time or deemed full-time semester, as applicable.
Application deadlines:
- Fall session: February 28th;
- Winter session: July 31st;
- Summer session: October 31st.

Scholarship to support the perseverance and success of interns
These $2,200 scholarships are awarded to Social Services Techniques students who are registered in the last mandatory internship of the program. You have 60 days from the start of the internship to submit an application in your student financial assistance file. If you do not receive student financial aid, you still can open a file to apply for this scholarship only. Online applications are processed more quickly, but they can also be sent by mail.
