In case of evacuation
Here are the safety instructions to follow in case of evacuation.
Important rules if you hear the evacuation alarm or are instructed to evacuate:
Instructions for the student body
- Exit via the nearest exit.
- Outside, go to the nearby rally point and stay there.
For the Gaspé Campus
For the Magdalen Island Campus
For the Carleton-sur-Mer Campus
For the École des pêches et de l’aquaculture du Québec
For the Montreal Campus
- Only re-enter the building when instructed to do so by the authorities. The end of the alarm does not indicate the end of the emergency.
- Wait for instructions from the authorities before leaving the area with your vehicle to ensure access for emergency vehicles.
- Follow the emergency responders’ instructions.
Instructions for staff
- Close all windows and make sure that any equipment is switched off or closed (burners, hoods, gas taps, etc.).
- When leaving a room, close the door behind you.
- Use the nearest exit and urge anyone you meet to evacuate quickly and not obstruct the escape routes.
- Help people with disabilities or special needs.
- Outside, go to the nearby rally point and stay there.

- Once the situation has returned to normal, report any problems encountered during the evacuation to your superior.
For people with reduced mobility
- Ask the evacuation staff or a colleague to help you get to the nearest exit.
- Do not use elevators.
- Before taking refuge in a stairwell, let the flow of other occupants pass. Wait for a member of the evacuation staff to help you evacuate. The staff will inform you of the situation, so that you don’t have to move around unnecessarily, and will take the necessary steps to ensure your safety.
