School Perseverance Week
Published on
From February 16 to 20, 2026, the Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles and its Foundation will join the major movement to support students’ perseverance in school, which seeks to remind the general public of the importance of encouraging students throughout their educational journey.
Based on the theme “Perseverance will take you far,” the 2026 Hooked on School Days are coordinated province-wide by the Réseau québécois pour la réussite éducative and supported locally by Complice Persévérance scolaire Gaspésie–Les Îles.
Scholarships to reward commitment and effort
In recognition of the dedication of its student community, the Cégep’s Foundation will award 40 perseverance scholarships worth $300 each this year. These scholarships are intended for full-time students at the Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles who, despite personal, financial, linguistic, or other challenges, have persevered and succeeded.
Students wishing to participate in the draws must complete the form provided for this purpose before February 20.
A week of activities and motivation
Throughout the week, various activities will take place on the Cégep’s three campuses and at the École des pêches et de l’aquaculture du Québec (ÉPAQ). Hooked on School Days are a special opportunity to highlight the importance of motivation, perseverance, and mutual support.
Green Thursday: a simple gesture for a powerful message
Next February 19 will mark the traditional Green Thursday. Everyone is invited to wear green to show their support for educational success and share photos on social media using the hashtag #perséVERT2026.
A toolkit for employers
This year, Complice Persévérance scolaire Gaspésie–Les Îles has developed a toolkit for local employers. This includes suggestions for concrete actions they can take to support work-study balance and items they can display to show their support for school perseverance.
