New electric lift at the Marcel-Bujold sports centre swimming pool

The Marcel-Bujold Sports Centre of the Gaspé campus is proud to announce its acquisition of a mobile electric lift for its swimming pool, a new piece of equipment designed to help people with reduced mobility access the pool. This initiative is part of our commitment to providing an inclusive, safe, and accessible environment for everyone.

This state-of-the-art device will enable users with physical disabilities to make full use of the aquatic facilities, whether for leisure swimming or rehabilitation activities. Thanks to its simple and safe operation, it will help users enjoy a more independent and comfortable experience.

“Installing an electric lift at the pool is a tangible step towards inclusion. We are delighted to see the Marcel-Bujold Sports Centre taking such a crucial step for our community,” said the management of the Gaspé Association for People with Disabilities.

The team at the Marcel-Bujold Sports Centre invites the public to come and discover this new addition during their next visit. Acquisition of this equipment, at a cost of $16,000, was made possible thanks to financial support from:

  • Component 4 of the Regions and Rural Areas Fund of the Ministère des Affaires municipals.
  • The Government of Québec, under the Financial Assistance Program for Local and Regional Physical Activity Initiatives, awarded by the Gaspésie‒Îles-de-la-Madeleine Regional Leisure and Sports Unit (URLS GÎM).
