The Gaspé Campus Educational Achievement Gala honouring 176 graduating students
Published on
Last May 2nd, members of the Gaspé campus community gathered to celebrate the achievements of the students completing their college studies. Surrounded by their loved ones, the 176 graduates were honoured during an evening filled with pride and emotion.
A celebration of the Cégep’s English-speaking community
That morning, the English-speaking section of the Gaspé campus brought the academic year to a close in style with a gathering at Chez Oscar café. The event highlighted the achievements of 17 students from the Adventure Tourism, Natural Science, Social Science and Travail Social programs, 12 people who completed an English as a Second Language immersion program and 2 anglophones who completed a French Language immersion program, and 9 students from Vanier, Dawson and John Abbott Colleges who came to Gaspé as part of a mobility program. The gathering also provided an opportunity to recognise the accomplishments of individuals who had particularly distinguished themselves over the course of the year.

The graduation ceremony honouring this year’s graduating students took place in the afternoon at the Marcel-Bujold Sports Centre.
The Governor General’s Academic Medal was awarded to Clara Deruelle, a student of the Social Science program, in recognition of her outstanding academic achievement.

A brand-new scholarship for initiative and innovation was awarded this year across all Cégep campuses. This scholarship has been made possible thanks to Mr André Poirier, founder and shareholder of A.P. Chevrolet Buick GMC in New Richmond.
Meanwhile, scholarships for academic excellence have been increased across all campuses thanks to the support of Alexis Deschênes, Member of Parliament for Gaspésie–Les Îles-de-la-Madeleine–Listuguj, and one partner per campus. Promutuel Assurance Côte-Est generously contributed to the scholarship for the Gaspé campus.
The Cégep would like to extend its warmest thanks to the many donors and partners who have made these scholarships possible. Their support plays a direct role in fostering the success and involvement of our students.
