Step 2: Check the admission conditions
To be admitted to college, you must meet the following general admission conditions:
Hold a secondary school graduation diploma (DES)
or
Hold a vocational studies diploma (DEP) and have successfully completed the following courses:
- Year 5 Language of Instruction
- Year 5 Second Language
- Year 4 Mathematics
In addition, applicants must meet the pre-requisite conditions established for their chosen program and meet the particular conditions established by the College, if any (interviews, auditions, evaluation tests, etc.).
However, the College can admit any individual with training that it considers to be equivalent. Candidates who have successfully completed two of the three required courses in addition to their DEP may be also be admitted if they agree to successfully complete the third course during their first term at College. Candidates who hold a general youth sector general DES issued prior to May 2007 or a general adult sector general DES issued prior to July 2010 who have not earned the Secondary IV or Secondary V Language of Instruction or Second Language units must successfully complete the upgrading activities. They must also agree to successfully complete the missing subjects within the first year following their admission to College.
Step 3: Fill out the application for admission
Fill out the application for admission* on the Service régional d'admission au collégial de Québec (SRACQ) website by the relevant deadline. Don’t forget to pay the $39 administrative fee covering the cost of studying your application. This amount is not refundable.
* You may submit only one application for admission per round.
Deadlines
Your application for admission must be submitted to SRACQ by:
Fall term
- March 1 for the first round
- May 1 for the second round
- June 1 for the third round
- November 1 for the first round
- December 1 for the second round
- January 2 for the third round
- August 8 for the fourth round
Winter term
These dates are provided for information purposes only. Check the SRACQ website for the official dates.
Response to my application
You will receive the response to your application for admission to the fall term no later than:
- First round: April 6
- Second round: May 23
- Third round: June 15
You will receive the response to your application for admission to the winter term no later than:
- First round: November 20
- Second round: December 15
Step 4: Pay your term fees
Once you’ve been admitted, the Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles will e-mail you the information about how to pay your fees (usually around May 15 for the Autumn semester and November 15 for the Winter semester).
Term fees cannot be refunded after registration has been confirmed. For more details, please consult the Tuition Fees for Students document.
Step 5: Confirm your course selection
Once you’ve been admitted, the Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles will e-mail you the information you need to select your courses. You can fill out the forms on line at the Omnivox student service centre.
Step 6: Pick up your class schedule
Your class schedule will be available via the Omnivox portal 4 to 5 days before the term starts. Picking up your schedule also confirms your registration for the term.
Step 7: Start courses
Classes start around August 20 for the fall term and end around December 20. For the winter term, classes start around January 17 and end on May 20.
