Applications for admission stable at the Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles
The number of applications for admission for the fall 2015 term at the Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles is stable compared to last year, despite the region’s persistent falling demographics.
In fact, the regional college admission service, SRACQ
, received 578 applications compared to 566 last year. The fall 2013 term set a ten-year record with the College receiving 586 applications for admission.
Beginning this year, applications for distance learning and virtual classes are compiled by the campus providing the training. This means no campus-based comparisons can be made concerning applications for this type of program or course this year.
The number of admission applications, by campus, are as follows:
Gaspé Campus, French-language sector: 304
Gaspé Campus, English-language sector: 52
Carleton-sur-Mer Campus: 102
Magdalen Islands Campus: 55
École des pêches et de l’aquaculture du Québec: 65
“Our recruitment efforts and development projects have been successful and we are delighted to see that applications for admission have remained stable – and even slightly higher than last year – despite the demographic decline,” indicated Louis Bujold, Academic Dean.
It is important to point out that the Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles offers more than thirty different programs of study.
